Somalia Relief Night

On November 30th, the Halpern family welcomed special guest speaker Amanda Lindhout to Schererville. Ms. Lindhout is the founder of the Global Enrichment Foundation, which establishes food convoys aiding Somalia, a country in Eastern Africa which the United Nations has declared a humanitarian crisis. In 2009, while working asa freelance journalist, Ms. Lindhout was captured by a group of teenage rebels and held hostage for 15 months. Upon release, Ms. Lindhout was determined to help shape the future for the Somali people with her humanitarian efforts including food and education. Albert's was proud to make a significant contribution to her foundation.
